Meet Jennifer Layden
Jen has always had an innate love and skill for all things movement. Her mom jokes that she learned to walk on her hands before her feet, so it was no surprise when she began competitive gymnastics at the age of three! She had a very successful gymnastics career throughout high school and taught gymnastics throughout college. While in graduate school Jen stumbled into her first yoga class and has been an avid practitioner for the past 20 years. She has practiced and loves all types of yoga including ashtanga, aerial, vinyasa, hatha, yin and restorative. But it was just in the past few years that Jen deepened her practice from just the physical to the philosophical by embracing and studying Patanjali's 8 limbs of yoga. This love for the yogic lifestyle fueled her desire to deepen her yoga practice by enrolling in an online 200-hour teacher training program. While successfully completing her 200 hours, she fell in love with teaching and sharing yoga. After relocating from New Jersey to Florida with her husband, Jen decided to further her yogic studies and completed a 2nd 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in studio at Fusion, where she is excited to share her knowledge and love of yoga. At her core, Jen will always be a student of yoga. As lyengar said "yoga is a light which once lit will never dim, the better your practice, the brighter the flame." Jen likes to incorporate yogic philosophy, pranayama and challenging sequences in her vinyasa style classes. She believes each yoga class should be special and rewarding "Most of us show up on our mats because yoga offers more than just physical exercise, I want all my students to be able to take their yoga experience off the mat into their daily lives." In her free time Jen can be found riding bikes with her husband, spending time with her family, reading and creating mixed media art.
